The celebrated American choreographer Mark Morris, swings into town with Pepperland, his unique tribute to one of the best-selling albums of all time: The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, which celebrated its 50^th anniversary in 2017.

In this exuberant new dance work, visually on the cusp of Carnaby Street and Woodstock, Pepperland teases out the album’s colourfully avant-garde heart and eccentric charm, and resounds with all ingenuity, musicality and wit for which the Mark Morris Dance Group is known.

A bold new score from Ethan Iverson featuring six idiosyncratic, jazzy reinventions of the original songs, including A Day in the Life, When I’m Sixty-Four, Penny Lane, With a Little Help From My Friends and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club, is performed live by a remarkable seven-piece band.
