Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart playing Beckett’s clownish tramps in Waiting for Godot at the Haymarket (Apr 30-Jun 28); Romeo and Juliet at Shakespeare’s Globe during the summer season (Apr 23-Aug 23).
From the musicals my choice would be Patricia Hodge and Lynda Bellingham at the Noel Coward Theatre in and as Calendar Girls (starts April 4) – the W1 in the nude for charity!; for Jason Donovan fans there is Priscilla Queen of the Desert, which replaces Spamalot at the Palace Theatre; and of course, Sister Act – can this Whoopi Goldberg co-produced version of the film be half as successful?
